Who We Are
Low Cost. Big Heart.
Emancipet is a nonprofit on a mission to make spay/neuter services and veterinary care affordable and accessible to all pet owners. We manage an expanding national network of high-quality, low-cost clinics; offer customized training and consulting programs to animal welfare organizations nationwide; and advocate for strategies and public policy that improve the lives of pets in underserved communities.
Since 1999, Emancipet has spayed or neutered nearly 350,000 dogs and cats and in 2018 we cared for more than 100,000 pets.
Why do we do it?
We love pets. They bring immeasurable joy to our lives and teach us about love, acceptance, and happiness.”
We believe that every pet needs and deserves high-quality veterinary care to keep them healthy and happy for their entire lives. But we know that sometimes a visit to the vet is financially out of reach for some families, and inaccessible in some communities. We’re here to change that.
Even though tax-exempt nonprofits, like Emancipet, do not pay federal taxes, we do have to file a 990 form with the IRS. The purpose of the 990 form is to ensure that we conduct our business in a way that is consistent with our mission to make low-cost vet care accessible to all pet owners.
If you have any questions about Emancipet’s 990 form, please email our Development Team – we’d be happy to help.
